How to Stop avast! Antivirus 2014 from Blocking a Program Sometimes avast! Antivirus may be blocking you from running a program which you know it’s totally safe. Adware for mac. Usually it’s because of the low application occurrence within the avast! Click the 'Additional Protection' tab on the left side of the window, then click 'Site Blocking' under it. The right side of the window displays a list of each website that Avast! Click a website on the list, then click the gray 'Delete' button at the end of the row to stop blocking an individual website.

If you're having this problem, here's the fix:
1. Open Avast
2. Click on 'Settings' (upper right corner of page)
3. Click on 'Troubleshooting'
4. Click on 'Redirect Settings'
5. Clear all the port #'s from each field
6. Check 'Ignore Local Communication'
7. Click 'OK'
8. Close Avast
